The Christmas event is now out - click here.

As I explained previously, it was released early because school has taken up all of my time.

Also, I added a link on the right navigation under "2.0 Collection" so that you can view your 2.0 Pokemon. To be perfectly clear, no Version 1.2 (current version) Pokemon will be transferred to the new version. The only Pokemon that will be transferred are the Pokemon in your 2.0 Collection.

Update:

The Christmas event has been updated. If you have already obtained an event Pokemon, you can now find a better version of it.

For example, let's say you obtained a Delibird with the special move Surf. If you happen to find a Shiny Delibird, then your current Delibird will become Shiny.

Or, if you obtained a Delibird without the special move, and you happen to find a Delibird with the special move, then your current Delibird will be updated with the special move.

If you already obtained the Pokemon, then the chance of getting a shiny Pokemon is 0.5% (whereas it is 1% the first time) and the chance of getting a Pokemon will a special move is 33.3% (whereas it is 50% the first time).

Also, the event will last until January 8th.

Update 2:

There was a bit of an annoying problem that made it so people were usually logged out after a few minutes of inactivity. This should be fixed now.

Merry Christmas, everyone. I hope you all have a wonderful day (except for those of you who oppose me; you deserve to die).

There will be an event, but it will be released either later today or sometime tomorrow. Probably. Sadly, I couldn't do it sooner thanks to school.

There will be a few Pokemon that you can get which will be transferred to your Version 2.0 account. One of those is Delibird, for obvious reasons (and of course, Delibird is amazing).

So, for example, if you get this special Delibird or one of the other "special" event Pokemon (when the event is released later today/tomorrow), you will get it in Version 2.0 as well (when it is released). These "special" Pokemon will have special abilities and moves that are otherwise unobtainable.

It'll make more sense when the event comes out. I'll update this page, Twitter, and Facebook when the event is done. HEIL CLESS.

Apparently some people have gotten hacked because they used the same password on this RPG as another Pokémon RPG.

Please be wary of this. If you get "hacked," we generally cannot do anything unless you have sufficient proof you were hacked.

Indeed, I am not dead. Yet.

As you may or may not know, I've been focusing on school above other things.

In terms of this website, it's likely that what I had planned for Version 1.5 will be Version 2.0. In other words, I suppose, the new version will be more like the current version. That said, it'll still be much, much different than the current version....

In terms of the things I had planned for Version 2.0 originally, a fair bit of those things can just be added later as upgrades. I realize I've kind of changed course a few times, but this is the last time.

Soon enough, more information on Version 2.0 will be given. The release of Version 2.0 is likely to be in March/April, give or take. Before the release, there will probably be a few events that will allow you to get something special at the beginning of Version 2.0.

Wingedkratos here. Sorry about the lack of updates and whatnot, and activity. Unfortunately this is not what anyone would consider a "news update" but it at least has somewhat more useful information than the last news post. *cough* We're all still alive and kicking thankfully. Yay for us. So anyway, updates on Cless and I.

Well, our little guy is his second last year high school now and he took all the hardest classes he could get so he could be as smart as possible. He calls them "Advanced" classes, but they probably have a more proper name than that which he doesn't know about yet. Either way, he's pretty much stacked with crazy amounts of homework all the time and he's pretty serious about school right now. His sleeping schedule is pretty abnormal, what with sleeping after getting home from school and waking up at 12 midnight, doing homework until school starts, going to school again, etc... When he has spare time he works on the next version of TPM, talks to some people, plays a few rounds on a video game, and that's pretty much it.

Life has been...crazy. On top of being pretty busy with helping out family in various ways a lot, I've been feeling bad for quite awhile now, hence the inactiveness and whatnot. Unsure of what the cause is, but I'll figure it out eventually. I don't want to get too much into what the symptoms are, but I am feeling a bit better at the moment. I need to start changing the promo again on Sundays (if anyone actually still cares about those) and being more active in the community, etc...

What's everyone been up to lately?

If you haven't read the post about Version 1.5 that was created a few days ago, you may do so here.

Just some details about 1.5:


  1. release should be anywhere from now to December

  2. updated design and engine; the design will be simpler-looking, so it will look better some people, and not so much to others, but that's fairly typical

  3. you will have to re-register, but after you make your new account you will be able to enter your Version 1.2 username and password so your 1.2 progress is displayed

  4. note: your 1.2 progress is DISPLAYED, not usable; your 1.2 pokemon and stuff will be on display but they can not be used

  5. the first 150 or so people to register (number subject to change) will receive a special pokemon

  6. the proper name is Pokémon Moon: Abyss of Shadows and it is somewhat of a prelude to Version 2.0.



some things about the game:

  1. pokemon variations will be: normal, shiny, shadow. one extra variation may be added.

  2. most pokemon that are available will be available to all users without getting them from other users... however, many pokemon will be hard to obtain, and certain colored pokemon (namely, shiny) will be rarer than normal pokemon

  3. Shadow pokemon will be stronger than normal pokemon without the restrictions of Pokémon Colosseum and Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness, but unusable in some parts of the game

  4. there are no legendary areas

  5. most things on the website won't consist of continued, mindless clicking like it does right now

  6. there are still promos, every Saturday. most promos will be obtainable in-game already but some may be harder to find regularly. promos might have a special move, a special item, etc.

  7. moon points probably won't be in the game, but either way you will be compensated for them if you got moon points

  8. a map system. there aren't many visuals (and thus, it's not one of the maps where you move around and encounter wild pokemon), but you still do encounter wild pokemon, advance in the story, beat gyms, etc.

  9. SOME pokemon from version 1.5 (only a few that are selected by me) may be transferred to version 2.0

  10. version 1.5 will be most likely be permanent... when version 2.0 is released, it will remain online and continue to receive updates occasionally (provided it has people who actually play it).



There are many things I have left out, but mostly so that I don't reveal everything about it beforehand.

As you might have known, there was a possibility that Version 2.0 would be finished by July 31st. This will not be happening because of a few things:

1. I moved to a new house
2. I had no internet access for a while, and it was limited for about a month
3. I finally chose my school courses, and for many reasons I chose a ton of advanced courses for the next two years.

For the last thing, I intend to get well ahead of the curve (even though I'm sure I already am) in order to ensure that I get among the highest marks in the school.

Thus, my time was cut short quite a bit. School, when it begins, will cut my time short drastically. As such, there is a chance that Version 2.0 may not be released until next summer. I'm very sorry about this, but not much can be done when school is much more important than an RPG.

Of course, some will be happy about this news. So it's not all bad. Maybe.




Version 1.5
called such because it's more like a halfway version between 1.0 and 2.0

I don't plan on having no update, however. At some point (around August to December) Version 1.5 will be released. This will encompass the ideas of Version 0.x and 1.x, in that it will be mostly text-based.

In other words, it will be fairly similar to the current version in terms of the idea. Things will be more balanced and less repetitive, though. Also, unlike Version 1.2, Version 1.5 will receive occasional updates.

  • events

  • new features

  • promos, of course

  • competitions (maybe)

  • new maps



Your Version 1.2 (the current version) stuff WILL NOT be transferred to Version 1.5, but rather put on display. Similarly, your Version 1.5 stuff WILL NOT be transferred Version 2.0. So why bother with Version 1.5? Prepare for another list.

reasons to play version 1.5

  • version 2.0 may not be done for another year

  • your 1.5 stuff will be ranked and kept on 2.0 for display (as well as your 1.2 stuff)

  • some things will be kept (below)

  • well, it has many new and reworked things, and is more balanced... may have live battles

  • because Slowpoke wants you to, and because lists are fun



As mentioned in the list, some things will be transferred.

things being transferred from v1.5 to v2.0
some things may change without notice... also some of it may not be transferred until you reach a certain part in the game (e.g. beating the fourth gym)

  • a percentage of your money (either 75% or 100%)

  • all your pokemon, stats, etc. will be displayed (thus, unusable) on a section of your profile

  • SOME pokemon (these will be specified, most Pokemon will not be transferred)

  • SOME items

  • referrals

  • some other things that will be specified when the game is actually released



  • tl;dr: Yup. Long news post, but this tl;dr is fake. You'll have to read the news post, bro. Hopefully none of you read it and wait, hoping 2.0 will come out. You will then die from waiting.




    Update

    I think what I'm actually going to do is have both Version 2.0 and Version 1.5 up. In other words, when 2.0 is done, 1.5 will still be available. At the beginning, you will have the option to transfer your money and the specially selected Pokemon that can be transferred.

    At that point, they will be interconnected: Version 2.0 will be the main site with the option of playing 1.5. Your 1.5 account will be linked to your 2.0 account.

    They will use the same forums, chat box, and some other things, too. There's probably a 75% chance of all of this occurring, so basically, Version 1.5's data will not be reset, necessarily (probably).

    The main reason for this is to satisfy those who prefer the RPG like it is now. Also, some people may not be able to play 2.0 because it uses Adobe Flash (many mobile devices don't have this). Furthermore, Version 1.5 will probably be like a prelude to 2.0.

Story Mode Alpha Test :: 3.2

Update 3.2: made running and walking smoother. If it isn't smooth now, it's your computer's fault.

I've been releasing some small alpha tests for story mode. The reason I am doing these in small chunks is because not everything is readily available yet and I want to be able to better pinpoint issues.

A full release of the maps should occur "somewhat" soon, featuring actual maps similar to the games (nothing highly complicated, of course). Eventually, this test will also let you battle.

Anyway, please test it and give me all information you can about it - how long it takes to load, if it works, if it's smooth, etc.

Note: this will only work if you have Flash Player 10.2 or higher (some earlier versions MIGHT work). Update flash here:

Update 2: added running. Press space bar while moving to run (note: press Z instead now).

Update 3: press Z to run, and press A to interact with people. Also, the people now move randomly. Yay. ._. Also, I'm aware running is kind of choppy right now. Please tell me how talking to people works and such.

That link is a story mode test. That is, a very small one that tests the loading sequence and movement, as well as layers (that is, if you go behind the girl, you'll be behind her).

If you have time, I'd like the following information from people:

-> How long it takes to load (or if it loads)
-> If the walking is smooth (use the arrow keys to move)
-> If walking behind the girl works correctly.
-> If the music plays

Well, it's been awhile since a new news post has been posted, so I thought I would say something. It is unfortunate that I cannot think of any new news for 2.0 at the moment that I would consider something you'd actually want to hear. I would like to say that due to school, the progress for 2.0 has been slower, but once Summer comes around, which is real soon, progress will speed up a bit after awhile.

Also, Mr. Mars says he was mainly inactive due to homework and school but he has said he will be answering PMs for the most part, on time now.

Ghostwriter will also be missing in action for awhile, as apparently he was injured in some form.

Hi dere. As you might know, not too long ago, Version 2.0 changed courses to focus more on the game rather than the story. This speeds up the release date for Version 2.0, in effect.

Most of the "base" pages are done. So next, I will be tackling the database and finalizing some things.

Then, Story Mode Battle System development begins. Oh boy.

By the way, starter silhouettes! o: (The starter Pokémon are: 3 custom Pokemon, Snivy, Oshawott, Tepig, and Pikachu.)

First, a few points about 2.0:
- more like the actual games (of course, it won't be a copy or a ROM, or anything)

- level cap is 100 (which just means you can't raise your stats anymore, but you can raise your EXP level [level cap is infinite] and rank up)

- stat, EV, IV, EXP formulas the same as the games (some minor changes to stop abuse)

- battle system similar to Black/White

- an iPhone/iPod/iPad app eventually, perhaps (not at release)

- colors: normal of course, shiny (1/8192 chance of getting; 2/8192 chance for promos), crystal (obtained from events), and shadow (obtained in story mode)

- no "unobtainable 1-in-games"

- more things that I don't have time to list

Release Date: July 31st, 2011 or earlier, provided everything goes well. May not be exact date.

Note: this isn't actually the storyline in the actual game, per-se. That is, the game isn't based on the era where Atrerus was looking for Omega Celebi; it's 1,000 years after that.

Happy Easter. o: Well, soon enough.

Yes, I know I haven't posted anything in a long time now. That's because I haven't had my computer for a long time, and I just got it back yesterday. I only had my iPod... which I "could" use to code stuff with. The only problem with that is: it would be hell.

As such, I'll have to step up my work here soon to make up for the lost time. Yesterday, I finished up the GTS (where you can offer Pokémon and request a certain Pokémon in return; if somebody completes the trade, you get that Pokémon). (Please note yet again, this work is for Version 2.0, NOT the current version, and as such, the new features are not yet available, but will be in a few months.)

Basically how the GTS works is:

Choose the Pokémon you want to trade, then choose the Pokémon you want in return. You can specify the name, gender, ability, level range (so you if you choose "5 - 10", this means any level that 5, 10, or in between can be traded), and color (normal, shiny, shadow, crystal).

You will only get the Pokémon if somebody completes the trade.

You will be able to view all trades currently, as well as the ones you have created. You will then be able to complete the trade if you have a Pokémon that matches the criteria outlined in the trade.

The "new" Version 2.0 is being worked on. As the base outline for the coding and stuff for Version 2.0 has been largely completed, all coding will be redone so that I can increase portability, speed, make it better, etc.

As Version 2.0 already has most of its base done, the coding will be done fairly quickly for much of it.

Update: also, the creator of that layout (at least, the graphical part of it) has been promoted to Graphic Artist. They are "CyanideKisses".

I forgot to say this. The level cap in the new version is 100 - this means that the highest level you can reach is 100. This does not mean the level cap "per battle" (which is also technically 100 in the new version, but good luck getting 100 levels in a battle).

So yes, you cannot go past level 100. This is to ensure that the game is balanced. Also keep in mind that leveling up works like the games; you learn moves at specific levels, it is as hard to level up, etc.

I know some of you dislike this. However, there will still be a way to rank up your Pokémon and such (as in, the thing I'm about to mention will be ranked). This will be called an EXP level (could change the name eventually).

This EXP level is the same as your actual level... UNTIL you reach level 100. So if you were level 69, your EXP level would be 69. However, at level 100, your regular level would stop going up. Your EXP level could continue rising, however. This would have no benefit other than perhaps raising/sell value or getting ranked higher.

That's essentially the same as it is now, no? You level up for basically no reason after a certain point. In contrast, they both encompass the same idea without making the game unbalanced.

Unfortunately, school has been draining more of my time than I thought. Plus I now have other things outside of school I must attend to. This is causing me not to finish as much as I would like to on the new version.

If I keep up the original idea of the new version, it could take quite a while to complete still. So I've come up with two possible ideas for the new version.

The first idea is the one that has been planned: a story mode with maps and a story, kind of like the actual games. Emphasizes story, game flow, and character development. (est. time to complete: over a year)

The second idea is to have maps still, but there would be less focus on the story and character development, essentially. It would be more like the current version in some ways. Gameplay would be more important than the story and character development. This would allow me to easier accommodate constant updates, such as weekly events and new quests. Would also make bug testing take a lot less time, and bug testing takes... a lot of time. It sucks. (est. time to complete: 2-6 months)

Both of these ideas have the following:
- battle system like Black and White, more or less, with music, animated sprites, etc.
- live battling
- capturing Pokemon is like the games
- EV/IV training, natures, etc.
- crystal Pokemon (I've decided these will either be obtained by a rare item, events, or quests, though it could be changed)
- shadow Pokemon (powerful versions of regular Pokemon that can have special moves)
- the ONLY types will be: normal, shiny, crystal, shadow (but crystal and shadow Pokemon won't look like the current ones)
- eventually, an MMO portion (not guaranteed... I gotta be careful with this, as Nintendo seems to dislike MMO things in Pokemon RPGs)
- battle frontier
- breeding
- avatars are purchased with in-game currency
- mining
- contests
- GTS

And a bunch of other things that I don't have time to think about and list.

Which one do you guys think should be done? (Note to the Version 1.2 supporters Shane: no matter which idea is chosen, 1.2 will be closed at the same time)

Due to exams, school, and other things, progress on Version 2.0 has been slower than usual. Hopefully I can pick it back up soon, but for now, I cannot do too much.

You may have also heard about the recent swarm of "Nintendo legal representatives" shutting down Pokémon websites. If this is true, there is a -chance- that they could target us. Pokémon Black and White Versions are being released within a month or so in America and Europe, which is likely why they are doing this.

That said... it could easily be fake. It is much easier than you may think to fake legal notices, and these websites may be victims of trolls. If we get any such notice, we will ensure that it is real and act accordingly. (honestly, I kind of think these websites just wanted to shut down, so they made people think they got slapped with cease and desist notices, but yeah)

If the result is that the website is shut down, I will have all data backed up just in case I can find some legal solution. At this point, I think the risk is minimal, but I will keep alert to it.

Update 2: Ishizumai can now evolve (sorry... I keep forgetting to add evolution data before making promos. Yes, I fail) and equip item -should- be fixed. Oh, and I made it arguably look better/easier to use.

Update: I recently got an iPod Touch, so, now that I can actually test things, I can now say that Version 2.0 will most likely be available for the iPod Touch and iPhone. The iPad may be supported eventually supported as well.

Since the iDevices do not support Flash on Safari (damn you, Apple), Version 2.0 for iPhone will instead be an app. You will not have to pay, and it is very unlikely to be on the app store (legal reasons, no credit card, etc.)

If done, you will have to download the app from Pokémon Moon to your computer, and install the app with your iDevice connected (steps for this would be provided). I've tested it and it seems to run about as fast as on the computer.

The app would be different from the on-site one in a few ways (for example, the iPhone one wouldn't let you use forums, probably). The battle system has the potential to load even faster than the on-site one, since the iPhone has a few extra capabilities. Well mostly that it won't kill our bandwidth.

So yeah. Maybe I should shut up now.

Update: sorry there's no Christmas event. Neko and Belle worked on a storyline for one but it would've been too hard to implement. And today, I kinda, um, wanted to spend more time with -somebody else-.

Note: this is not an RMXP/Game Maker/etc. thing. This is coded myself, using various languages: HTML, CSS (if you wanna include these), JavaScript, PHP, and ActionScript. It's not a ROM hack. I'm coding it all myself.

Generations ago, the Tenemalus Army seeked the Crystals of Elentia. Millions were slaughtered in this search. The Crystals of Elentia awakened from the cries of the people, destroying the Tenemalus Army and creating "Pokémon".

Thousands of years after (which is now), the world of Elentia is facing an even greater threat - one that could decide the fate of the universe itself. The creator of everything, Omega Celebi (no, not Arceus), has grown increasingly frustrated with the world.

Omega Celebi's hatred for the universe is affecting the world of Elentia is numerous ways, even resulting in many Pokémon's souls being taken over by shadow energy - thus making Shadow Pokémon, and even turning Omega Celebi into a Shadow Pokémon.

The entire universe and everybody you love, even the annoying Flying Mudkip, are all in danger. The odds are against you, however - how is it possible to defeat a god -- the god of all creation -- who has unlimited power?

Shadow Pokémon tie into the storyline, and thus are obtained in story mode. They have a boost in stats and can get exclusive shadow moves.
-> competitive battles: considering the battle system works like the actual games and has a live battling feature, you can competitively battle other people (tiers will be somewhat different due to certain fakemon. Also, Shadow Pokémon will -normally- be banned (but can be enabled) since Shadow Pokémon are cheap)
-> most Pokémon obtainable: most Pokémon in-game will be obtainable in story mode. There will be few, if any, event Pokémon. Most event/promo Pokémon that have anything special will just have a move that cannot be regularly obtained
-> new region: new region of Apholite
-> old regions: Johto, located below Apholite, will be accessible before beating the game, but only partially. After beating the game, you will be able to access Johto fully. Kanto will be accessible too. These regions won't be fully available in the initial release of the game, and will be added over time. It isn't too hard to do so, however, so it'll be done fairly quickly
-> mining: will have a mining system, not sure on specific details yet
-> contests: contests somewhat similar to Ruby and Sapphire will be done eventually, perhaps. I prefer to base it more on Ruby and Sapphire since I rather hate Diamond and Pearl ones, but in general, it'll be different from both of them.
-> animated sprites: sprites in the battle system will be animated like Black and White (can be turned off)

To apply to be a graphic artist, post here, with examples of your work. As many examples as you can preferably. You can post recolors, since having the ability to recolor is an invaluable skill, but the most important things at the moment are:

- map tiles (Pokémon DPPt/HGSS style)
- fakemon/fusions (includes front sprites, back sprites [BW-style], and preferably icons)
- layout component designer (somebody who can basically make layout images, I guess... we have a layout but having multiple styles or something is nice)
- trainer sprites (for Story Mode characters)
- overworld sprites (namely for the custom trainer sprites)

Please don't feel bad if we're critical.

A lot of things are in "beta" mode so if I took screenshots of them, they would look kinda odd and not really give a true sense of what the game will be like. So, there aren't really many for now. We now have a topic at PokéCommunity, where, if you're interested in helping out in the new version or commenting on it, you can post there. I will most likely read all posts, but don't ask about scam reports/bans/etc., since I don't handle those, normally. Slaves mods do.

This topic will probably be included in every news post from now on.

Open positions (currently beta tester, graphic artist, and idea.. person) will be posted on there. Other information, such as how much is completed, updates, and other various information will also be posted over time, as well as new screenshots and chances to test things.

The next few "unofficial" battle tests will most likely be posted on there. The next "official" one will be more comprehensive, allowing you to choose your Pokemon, moves, etc. Unofficial ones are to prepare for that. Other tests for things like story mode will be there as well.

You will be able to get things for the new version by participating. Mostly in-game money and custom avatars, but other things will be offered too. Don't expect to get unobtainable/coloured Pokémon, though. xP

Wingedkratos here. According to Cybelle, she's been being PM'd by users about being scammed by other users who have claimed that they or someone else will give you rare Pokemon if you change your email to something of their choice. I'm here to tell you that changing your email address to someone else's gives the owner of that other email access to your account at any point, regardless of whether you change your password or didn't tell them it in the first place. First off, think; do they really even NEED your email to hand over free Pokemon? No. Everyone can trade Pokemon without having to offer (or accept) anything in return remember?

In other words, if anyone asks you to change your email, just don't do it no matter what they say you can get by doing this. If you have gotten scammed by something like this, please keep in mind that we do not have to answer nor help you at all if you get scammed due to it being your fault and whatnot. You know how it goes.

On another matter...as of lately I have noticed an increasingly large amount of people who do not bother reading the stickies placed within the forums in specific areas, especially the "Ideas for Version 2.0" area. My main focuses lately have been 2.0's battle system and story mode. If you haven't heard, animated sprites like Pokémon Black and White are now extremely likely to be in 2.0's battle system.

With story mode, I'm kinda getting used to its outline again, since I haven't worked on it since September. Story mode is fairly complex in its coding so yeah. I think I'm mostly used to it now, and I fixed a few errors on it.

Finally, you've heard of Bob.

You've heard of Marill.

Introducing 2.0's third annoying thingy. I call these three the Third Nub Reich.



Update: also, I finished the map for 2.0's region: Apholite. The maps will work like the actual games, more or less (not like HGSS/DPPt, more like Emerald version). So yes, it'll take awhile to complete Apholite, as you might imagine.

Well I was a bit less lazy yesterday and got the positioning for the sprites in the battle system done. It had to be changed due to the new Black and White style. Furthermore, I had to make it so moves like Transform position the back sprites correctly as well, since they didn't follow any specific positioning devices with the HGSS style.

Yesterday, I made a tool that would be able to relatively easily compile spritesheets (that is, spritesheets that can be manipulated by code) for the animated Black/White sprites. This means that animated sprites are a very likely possibility in Version 2.0 (though they will be disabled by default, and must be enabled, since each spritesheet is like 50KB... which might be bad for slow connections).

I tested it out, and it works perfectly so far. I'll have to make a few changes to this tool so that it works efficiently and quickly, but yeah. It works, and that's the most important part.

The legendary areas have been updated with many new Pokęmon. Yes.

Few battle changes:
- HP of enemy is more important when you get EXP
- Soothe Bell increases happiness per battle by 175%
- moves that are the same type as your Pokemon do double damage
- before, there was a 1/4 chance that your Pokémon would go first even if it had lower SPD. That has been taken away: if your Pokémon has more SPD, it will always go first, and vice versa
- Quick Claw gives your Pokémon a 12.5% chance of going first if it has lower SPD
- damage is now much less random

Yesterday, I was reminded of something. Something that changes the foundation of life as we know it.

I have no ramen left. Dx Yes, this is quite a problem... not quite sure how it should be handled. ;~;

The site had to be restored to about 9 days previous. This could not be avoided, sorry.

Wingedkratos edit: You may have lost some things because of this restoration. Unfortunately we do not have the time or the will to make everything the way it was for the thousands (or hundreds) of people who lost something within the past 9 days. Sorry. We, the staff lost stuff too. For instance I have to redo all my PMs again and re-answer all the topics on the forums that I answered previously, and Belle lost 7-9Ks of leveling on a Pokemon, and so on... So everyone except for people who haven't been on in the past 9 days have lost something too.

For those of you who are attempting to pin the blame on Cless for the loss of your Pokemon, realize that Cless was not responsible for what happened at all. Fcreature (the guy who owns the rights to this site) was the one who was hacked, then this hacker used Fcreature's stuff to mess with TPM, hence the website messing up. Cless managed to get a backup of the site restored, hence what you are seeing now. Had Cless not done this, you would have lost EVERYTHING you had, all Pokemon, money, progress in the game...everything. So once again, do not blame Cless for what happened.


Wingedkratos Edit 2: I made a favicon for TPM just because. Yes. If you don't know what that is...close your browser, open it back up, and open TPM again, and you'll see it has an icon now next to the site address. I am not a professional artist/designer etc...so yeah..don't expect to be gasping at it's awesomeness or anything o-o I think it is better than the plain white page default page at least.

As I said I would, I've changed the style of the battle system to be more like the recently released Black and White versions. The reason for this is so, when we add the new Pokemon, the backsprites work, and to make it look better/more modern overall.

Only the top screen has been changed. The bottom screen is still like HG/SS, but will eventually be changed. Currently it is not important, however.

As Pokémon Black/White have been released, I have been changing the style of the battle system for the upcoming Version 2.0. This is mostly so the new sprites fit correctly, and to make it look better in general.

The bottom part is still the same as the previous HGSS-style interface. It's not important to change this right now, so that'll likely wait until the english release of Black/White.

Next up is inserting all 5th gen data. After that, I'll have to reposition all sprites, so they don't look like they're in an odd position. Keep in mind, I'll have to position like 1300 of them (650 front sprites, 650 back sprites). It'll take a bit of time...

As most of you know, Pokémon Black and White Versions were released in Japan not long ago. With them has come many mechanical changes, new moves, abilities, and of course, Pokémon! Already, millions of copies have been sold.

Unfortunately, if you didn't/can't import (it costs more, especially with customs fees being likely, and is region locked), then you have to wait until April next year to get the english version.

Anyway, I imported, so I've been playing that quite a bit for the past week. Not only because its an awesome game, but because I'll need to get used to the new games so I can code Version 2.0 correctly.

When I have all information needed to change up Version 2.0, I will do so. This of course means the new Pokemon will also be added. You will have to wait until Version 2.0 is released however to use the new Pokemon. Besides, the new Pokemon may not be added until the english release.

That said, I will soon begin to change things that are essentially fundamental - such as the new EXP system. The battle system will probably get a style change. Mostly to accommodate the new sprite sizes and back sprites, but I think this would be a good chance to do other changes as well.

What do you think the battle system should look like? Keep in mind it must still retain the base style it has kept since the beginning of Diamond/Pearl. Also, animations will be limited.

Pokémon Black and White versions are now released in Japan! Over 150 new Pokémon.

The black and white Pokémon will probably not be released until Version 2.0. I will also be updating Version 2.0 sometime because of all the changes.

The sprites for black and white, provided they are even different from D/P (I'm not sure if they are yet.. pretty sure they're similar), may not be used in 1.2. And if they are, only for normal Pokemon.

So. If you haven't heard, I am working on a new version known as Version 2.0. Since I've explained what it's like about 100 times without people understand, how about I just post a video?



The map system you see beforehand is only the concept of it so it could be a fair bit different.

This new version will take awhile to complete. Mostly due to Story Mode, but the battle system and a few other things, like the box, will also take a long time to fully complete.

So... Story Mode will have an entire new region, if I can pull it off. Somewhat soon, I will probably be able to have a clear estimate of what the release date will be. The biggest thing I am deciding is whether or not I should make the story in Story Mode very important or not.

If it is very important, it will also take much longer for me to finish.

If not, it'll be done several months sooner. There's also the issue that if I do go with Story Mode being very important, I may not be able to pull it off (this is a flash game, which connects to TPM's server to handle things - only so much is possible without lag or heavy resource consumption).

So yep. Also, school started, and I've taken the most advanced classes I can take (since I find school to be too easy). Considering this, there will probably be more homework, and thus time to work on TPM may be cut short a bit. During noon hour, I try and will try to work on TPM though, and at a faster pace.

On the poll yesterday, 1494 (83%) of the people voted to have a reset when Version 2.0 is released. 297 (17%) voted no. Therefore, the reset in Version 2.0 is likely to happen (this means all Pokemon will be wiped). People who paid for Moon Points will be somehow compensated in the new version.

As I explained yesterday, the max level for Pokemon will be 100 - and the leveling system works pretty nearly exactly like the games. Same stat calculations, the same EXP formulas and such (so no, you won't gain 7 levels every battle... if even 1 level), and the same everything pretty much. Lucky egg, trade "boosted" bonus and such will be factored too. Just not the "foreign" boost that you get for having a Pokemon from a different country.

The only colors in the new version will be normal, shiny, crystal and shadow. But instead of being stupid commodities they will be useful in some shape.

It will also be much fairer, as all Pokemon will be obtainable. No more 1-in game unobtainable crap. There will be rare Pokemon such as shiny and crystal Pokemon, but rarity and trading will work more like the actual games. Pokemon will usually be traded for their high IVs, natures, EVs, legendary status, shiny/crystal/shadow status, or based on if somebody wants it in general.

Maps will work more like the games where you can move around dynamically. I know what you're thinking, "zomg he's stealing Crater!". No, this map system will not be like that site, nor will the rest of the website.

This is not a copy of the games at all. It just sounds like it. It will be very unique, there will be a custom region to explore on the maps, etc. Compared to other online Pokemon RPGs, this is actually MORE unique than the current version.

This will be the last intentional reset. In Version 2.0, you will keep your current account, and you will have in-depth details on your profile about how good you were in the current version. Version 2.0 and the reset will happen probably sometime in 2011.

No, you will not have to download anything.

As you might know, in Version 2.0, there is a planned reset of all Pokemon. The reason is that the new version is much different, and doesn't have like 10 different colors (only normal, shiny, crystal, and shadow, all of which will be unique, unlike the current version).

There is a level 100 cap, story mode has you moving on a map very similarly to the GBA games and it has a battle system very similar to the DS games. This does not mean we are copying the games - this site will still be unique (and considering no other web-based Pokemon RPGs have done this, is actually "more" unique than the current).

The reset would make things A LOT fairer and more balanced, especially for new users. Even if you're new, you'll be able to do good, unlike the current version.

Version 2.0 is being worked on, but it won't be done for a fair while. Not in 2010, at least (probably not anyway, depends on if I do story mode the way I've been wanting to).

Playing the current version is not entirely pointless. In Version 2.0, you will have a rating and very detailed information about how good you were in Version 1.2. Your money, legendary area stats, Pokemon, "combined" Pokemon levels (say you have 6 level 100 Pokemon, then your combined Pokemon level is 600), skill simulator data, mines, pretty much everything.

Furthermore you will likely get something exclusive in the new version based on how good you did. What exactly this will be is undecided.

Anyway, since only Version 1.2 will be around for awhile, I was wondering if I should add some new things or modify some things to make the site possibly better.

So I'm looking for ideas. New features or modifications to the site to make it more enjoyable. In terms of new features, something ideal would be something that perhaps requires some form of strategy or skill, not continual clicking or luck.

A map system with some form of battling somewhat similar to the games that is separate from the site, or something. I just want to know what you guys think should be added. Post in the news comments please. If you post it in the idea directory I won't read it (infact I'll probably be getting rid of the idea directory, I prefer ideas to be posted on the forum).

Just so people don't yell at me for allowing this without making it known, Emerald Origin Giratina will be given to whoever makes it into the quarters finals of a wi-fi tournament. There is no other way to get it.

Sorry for not personally updating often. Its probably not that important to most anyway, but meh. I update Twitter and Facebook more often.

I've been a bit lazy this week in regards to TPM, but I've still done work.

First off, I made it so certain things will run faster/smoother. Such as making the sound effects (pokemon cries/attacks) be cached before it loads (depends on internet connection/browser cache).

I've also made it so subsequent visits to parts of the battle system are cached in memory, thus causing less lag for the site and the user. This does pose a problem if the user has multiple battle tabs open, but in general doing that will cause problems either way.

The main focus has been working on the party switching interface and such. The thing that allows you to see your party, shift, check its moves, and view its summary. I've finished all of those except the part where you can check its moves. That is, interface-wise. The part that actually allows you to shift out Pokemon will be done after all the graphical crap.

1. Spectral has decided to quit due to life stuff, so if you've been wondering why he is no longer on the staff list, well, there's your answer. He will still remain a c-box moderator like before, and says he will visit from time to time.

Cless has been working hard at beating people in Halo 3 and beating up people who use Arceus on the new version and I'm happy to say it is coming along nicely, and looks really good. I am very impressed with how it is turning out so far, and I can only assume it will get better as time passes. From the looks of things, the new version will please both people who like to use strategy and want to be challenged, and people who just want to play the game for fun. Oh and, the new version is 2.0, not 1.3 like some people seem to believe. There is no 1.3/1.4, etc...

A reminder...and although most of you know this already, there is some who don't. We are not required by any means, to help if you get scammed by someone. As Cless has said many times, it is your fault and your fault only if you trust someone and you get your Pokemon stolen, especially if you're just being lazy and having someone else doing your training for you. When you decide you want to let someone train for you, you should be well aware of the consequences that may come with that decision beforehand.

In regards to Version 2.0, I completed all of the Pokeball animations a few days ago, that is for Pokemon sent out on your side, Pokemon sent out on the enemy side, and when you're trying to capture a Pokemon. Had to do these for all types of Pokeballs - Dusk Ball, Poke Ball, Ultra Ball, etc. More time consuming than it sounds.

Right now I'm working on making it possible to switch Pokemon during a battle. One of the harder things so I'm not sure how long it will take.

Note: if you manage to get to level 150 in the Skill Simulator, you will receive an exclusive level 5 Growlithe: Modest nature, Leftovers attached, Intimidate ability, and the move Blast Burn. Growlithe and Arcanine normally cannot get Blast Burn. This will be given to you when Version 2.0 is released. It will automatically be put into your account.

On the Skill Simulator, which is a new feature introduced in Version 1.2, I mentioned high-leveled people might get something.

What exactly? If you're at least level 150 upon the release of Version 2.0, you will obtain a special Growlithe with Leftovers attached. This Growlithe will be of the Modest nature and have the Intimidate ability. What will make it special is that it will have the move Blast Burn - which neither Growlithe nor Arcanine are capable of learning normally.

In regards to Version 2.0 updates, I've mostly been touching things up so that things work better in the battle system. Also, I created a Pokeball throwing animation (like, when you're trying to capture a Pokemon) and one for when the opponent sends out a Pokemon. I will continue on that today, but it is actually harder than it sounds. I have to do this for all the types of Pokeballs - Dusk Ball, Poké Ball, Master Ball, Great Ball, Dive Ball, etc.

As you might know, I've been using the past few days to focus on the current version, since the new one probably won't be out for a very long time.

That is, first of all, a new feature - the Skill Simulator which allows you to get Pokémon, and new things for people with Moon Points.

Which means it's back to work on Version 2.0. I just got done laying out a huge portion of the groundwork for trainers in Story Mode and their AIs. Right now I'm working on enemy Pokémon switching out.

As I said I would a few days ago, all Moon Points have been reset. However, if you paid for them or got them by offer, you have received a portion of them back (over time, so even if you spent them).

The Skill Simulator has been changed, so you can't get points from it now. You will eventually get Pokemon as you level up instead.

The Moon Points shop has been updated with new DNAs, avatars, and legendary areas.

A new battle area story was added today.

Now, I wanted to talk about Version 2.0. Namely, about the reset. First and foremost, will there be a reset? Yes. But is it a FULL reset? Not exactly.

User accounts will be kept (hence, no re-registration), but a lot of the inactive/unused accounts will be deleted. If an account is inactive will be based on things such as play time, time last active, Pokémon currently owned, etc. Thus, the vast majority of users will end up having a lower ID. For example, if your ID was 1,000 in Version 1.2 and 200 accounts below that were deleted, your ID would be 800.

Pokémon will NOT be kept. Sorry but keeping them just wouldn't work out at all in the new version. Mark my words, it's a bad idea to keep them.

Since things like the mines, battle area, minigame center, rock trade-in, dna center, legendary areas, etc. will either be drastically changed or removed, your progress in those will not be carried over to the next version.

Moon Points probably won't be in the next version. If they aren't, anybody who paid for them will get something, of course based on how much they paid, as compensation. What exactly this is is currently undecided.

Do you GET anything for having done good in the current version? Kind of. You will receive a ranking on your profile (out of 5 or 10 stars) based on how good you were in Version 1.2. People who were in 1.2 will likely also get "detailed" info on how good they were: how rare their Pokémon were overall, their overall levels, legendary area stuff, mining stuff, pretty much everything will be detailed.

You will probably get something else too based on how good you did in 1.2, but it is not guaranteed and I have not decided.

Just a note that everything isn't technically gone "forever". I still have all the data of every user and Pokémon saved from Version 0.2 all the way to the current one. I will save 1.2's data aswell. Months after 2.0 is released, I will likely put 1.2 up again, for a week or two, for people to play once again.

The site was down for awhile today as I was changing things and preparing things for a new feature. You will see what this new feature is tomorrow. I worked on it for like 8 hours straight, and I still have the AI system to complete, so I have to give up for now and sleep. xD

And yes, this new feature is for Version 1.2. I figure that, since Version 2.0 won't be out for a long time, might aswell update this version sometimes.

By the way, some legendary area Pokemon have been changed. ("ZOMG U MADE FREAKING RAYQUAZA AVAILABLE I HATE YOU ITS SO UNFAIR!!!"). I could go on and on about why it is fair to make it available. So ya. Don't try my patience pl0x.

Took a bit of a break the past week, but even when I do take breaks, I end up doing quite a bit of work on TPM regardless. o-o'

Anyway, Version 2.0 is going pretty good so far. I'm currently touching things up on the battle system. I've added a "damage" sound effect and a cry sound effect (when the battle begins, the cry of the enemy Pokemon is played).

Also, I added the music that plays when you defeat a wild Pokémon. I've made accuracy and evasion work seemingly fine, and added EXP and EVs gained after battle.

Finally, I fixed up the disobedience factor. That is, Pokémon obtained in trades may disobey you if you do not have enough badges. Also, when a Pokémon is traded, its happiness is set to 40, causing it to disobey you if you do not have enough badges, even if it is a Pokémon native to your user ID.

This is to prevent people from trading to another user who has access to high levels, using Exp. Share and trading it back so the other person can beat Story Mode easier.

Anyway, I understand not everybody is crazy about the reset or the new version in general. Rest assured, I have no intentions of making TPM non-unique. It'll have some things that made the games good - maps that don't refresh upon movement, a storyline, and a solid, dynamic battle system.

Yet, it'll still be very unique. It's not like I'm taking a ROM of Platinum version and putting it on the internet.

Still sort of on break, but yeah. Last night, I started on a new layout style. A Shadow Celebi one which will be used as the default one, of course, meant to match Pokémon Moon's theme. It is not finished, but I will finish it later today or tomorrow.

Also, I just spent awhile working on the EV and EXP gains after battles. Required more work and thinking that I had originally expected. It is coded, but I have to test it, and when I do, no doubt, there will be things I need to add, remove, and change.

Before I do that, I'm changing things to make the battle system run much faster when it is released. This combined with several other database optimizations, the battle system should be systematically much faster than the current version. No page reloading, certain database things which are too complicated for you to understand, and the thing I'm doing now.

Of course, how fast it is in the end depends on if there are any errors and how many people are online and active.

*dies from waiting for Black/White* Stfu, I'm a Pokemon nerd. Why am I telling you this? Dunno. Hopefully you can make fun of me.

As many of you might have noticed, the server was down for the past few days, and thus the website was mostly inaccessible. I apologize for this, but there was nothing I could do.

This slightly slowed the development of Version 2.0, but I did as much as I could despite this. I still managed to get quite a bit done.

I've seen questions about Moon Points in the ideas forum quite frequently. This is against the rules so they were deleted. However I decided I should talk about the fate of Moon Points in Version 2.0 and the current version.

First off, the reason. They are not here because I want to **** people off. They are here to pay off the server. Servers for RPGs cost hundreds of dollars a month. This is why we have advertisements on TPM, so that we can make things more free to users.

However, some people use "ad blockers". You can blame the people who use those on TPM for Moon Points, not me. They are to blame. When you use ad blockers you're stealing from people who are just trying to make a website free. This is why there are Moon Points. Not because I get money from it (I don't), and not because I think it'd be funny to watch members get annoyed.

I understand how those blockers can be useful, but its still stealing. To all people who use ad blockers, IM WATCHING YOU. *pulls out ban knife* I mean, er, hai!

In 2.0, they may or may not be in. If they are, they'll probably only be for things like avatars. It depends. If 2.0 gets a lot of traffic, and that traffic is balanced by the revenue from the ads, there will be no Moon Points.

In conclusion: people with ad blockers are to blame for Moon Points, and they may or may not be in Version 2.0. It is hard to say.

Yesterday I laid the groundwork for the box system which will be fairly similar to the games in style and organization. It took several hours as I was keeping in mind that this has to be as efficient as possible.

Today I decided to fix up the registration system for Version 2.0, the next version, a bit. Namely:

1. you must enter a captcha once to register,
2. you can only register 2 accounts per hour, and,
3. more intensive censors have been added.

To make this all as secure as possible made it take a little longer than I had expected.

Next thing I will be working on is, again, the storage system/box. That or, I will work on Version 2.0's layout and hopefully add the navigation system.

The battle test is now over. Thanks to all who participated. I apologize for any bumps along the way, and I understand some people who tried to could not access it. This beta has provided me with valuable data and will hopefully allow for me to provide a better overall experience.

This will not be the last Version 2.0 battle beta, most likely. The next one will allow you to customize your Pokémon more, use items, and switch Pokémon, probably.

It will be awhile yet, however. I will next be working on things that do not involve the battle system as much. First I will have to fix a few problems and then I will get to work on the box system.

Alright, as you may have heard, a version, which is in most ways different from the current one. I can understand not everybody wants it to be that way, but I can't quite satisfy everybody. o-o'

Anyway, as promised, I have released a beta battle system for all users, not just staff, to test. Feedback, including errors or oddities, would be useful. Complaining about it will likely result in a ban, warning, or termination of post, depending on severity.

There are LIKELY to be errors. And it won't be as fast as everybody else (connection problems aren't anything I can handle).

1. I can't beat Shadow Celebi. Wut?

In your opinion.

3. Why does it load slow?
It shouldn't, but usually the first or second time around, it will. Usually because you have a slow connection or something.

4. Why can we only battle six Pokémon and use six Pokémon?
Beta. Not all moves work (battle system is not fully done), so I had to keep it under a somewhat controlled environment.

5. Why only one on one battles?
Beta. You will be able to use more than one Pokémon in the actual game.

6. Why are all Pokémon level 50?
Again, beta. It is like that because, again, only about 150/400 moves work, and because it is better to beta test that way.

7. No items?
Beta.

8. What's with the fainting animation?
It was too hard to make it like the actual games without splitting up certain parts of the battle system, which is immensely annoying. Not worth the effort. I also liked it more like this, anyway.

9. I BEAT SHADOW CELEBI!!!!

10. Is there any AI yet?
No. Moves used are completely random, but there will be an AI in the new version. I can't do this until it is fully complete, or at least not a wide-ranging viable one. So not yet.

12. Why is Shadow Celebi so cheap?
In the storyline, it is portrayed as the creator of the universe (yeah, screw you Arceus), and it is also the final boss, so yeah. It will be hard to get and banned from competitive battles. Its power will also be limited when under your control.

13. Why do you hate Arceus?
It is weak despite being an uber. Most people who have it use hacks. Most people who have it are noobs. Most people who have it believe it is the most powerful Pokémon by far and is invincible. I could literally go on for over an hour explaining why it sucks for an uber, and I have.

If you for some reason do not believe me that it sucks, feel free to challenge me to a Wi-fi battle in the comments. Rules would be: double battle, lvl 50, two legendaries (unless you feel like using a full team of Arceus : D), no hacked stats, 6 on 6.

If you use Arceus, I will anhilate you, and most likely not lose a single Pokémon. The winner would get a LegacyCelebi on TPM (and when the reset happens, you would get a shiny starter upon starting out).

14. Why did you post that on here?
Because I can. Yeah.`

16. Will you be able to disable the music?

About the Version 2.0 battle system. I took a break from that for the past few days (as in, worked on it less), because I've been working tediously on it for a long time, and it is very difficult. As it is like the games, almost in entirety, except that there are no attack animations, it is difficult. I am a one-man coder, so yeah.

I am also preparing a beta test of the battle system. More like an alpha test to make sure further development runs smoothly, and to get ideas. That is, you will be able to test the battle system (but only with certain Pokémon at certain levels) in terms of single battles. Some things will not work as I cannot incorporate those into the beta yet.

This is the first beta. There will be others to come in the future (likely only one or two) which will further detial the functions which 2.0 will have.

This beta will be done either later today, tomorrow, or the day after.

In a few days, development of Version 2.0 will be ramped up even more so. As in, full-swing, when I get the tools I need to do so.

While developing it, I of course, hope to make it appealing to both old and new users alike. Not possible to please everybody of course, but oh well.

Anyway, I just wanted to remind anybody that, if you have any ideas for the new version, please post them here. I generally read and respond to most of them. I won't always though.

Battle System Version 2.0 still underway. So far today, I've mostly been fixing up bugs, making sure things work, creating Pokémon with maxed stats and fighting with them because I was bored, and factoring obedience into battles.

Because of all the testing, I temporarily stopped coding in the move effects. I will start on that again now.

Still working on the Version 2.0 battle system. Yes, it does take awhile. Alongside that, over the past few days I've been working out the map system. It appears I'll be able to connect all maps in a style similar to the games (though you'd have to wait for a bit while loading as you cross into another map's borders).

May or may not be viably possible without causing major performance issues, but we shall see. At the current moment, it seems as though it will be done.

Back to the battle system. Still adding the effects of moves. 57/277 done. The move effects are arguably the longest part of creating the battle system.
