Talia: Personally, I wouldn't mind a reset...it will get rid of ALOT of unused or multiple accounts...and make the site more fair if you are implementing all the changes you stated....And as I have the second highest and second rated PC on the game..I am STILL all for a reset...I think it is needed!
Klade: I think a reset would be the best option by far... but some members don't think so. At least, not yet. They may agree though when I release the beta.
Spectral: NO reset. Everyone, I mean EVERYONE will quit. It would be the same as starting a new RPG. I've talked to quite a few people about this and everyone agrees.
Also making it only Shiny/Dark/Normal (note by Klade, not part of Spectral's post: the remaining colours will likely be normal, shiny, dark, shadow, and crystal) would anger a lot of people, and it would make it more T**Cish. Variety of types is one of the things people love about this RPG, and one of the things we have and T**C doesn't.
Some people don't understand that the levels are just being scaled down, not reset.
All other things sound good to me.
Mr Mars: Spectral's right, in a sense. I personally don't want a ton of people to quit and I don't want this to be a second T**C (note by Klade, not part of Mr Mars' post: it will not be like that "other" RPG xD). But then again, if we don't do a reset, new members may find themselves at a horrible disadvantage.
I'll be a little sad if I lose my 900 or so Giratinas, but if it's for the good of the site, I can get over it. I'm sure whatever decision you make will be a good one : ]
Spectral: I just dont think its fair to take away all those pokemon people have earned over the past few weeks, months, even years.
What we could do is prune the inactive accounts, delete all their pokemon and stuff... That sounds like a good compromise that keeps everyone playing.
Talia: LOl..it hasn't been years since the last reset Spectral....and I personally haven't heard anyone complain too much besides [censored name and reason, just as to not cause anything].
It is pixels Erik...granted CUTE Pixels...but a reset is not the end of the world...and we would be nothing like T**C..we already have alot of players who WON'T quit...and I think we will gain even more members by doing it....*Rant over*
Cybelle: I support a reset as well. It'd give the members something to do. I mean, we have areas and all, but by now most members have done everything worth doing.
WingedKratos: I support the reset as well, and from what it looks like I think that most of the ones who don't only are thinking about themselves, and not the "big" picture... I mean come on, this site does have a bunch of kids on it...
A bit confused though... Apparently, we're now keeping our Pokemon? There's been several different bits of info about this...first it was. "Delete all Pokemon and start completely over" Then it was "Delete all the one in games (>_> I finally got one too...) and leave all the rest" and now from what it looks like (though not clearly stated) "all Pokemon are staying but being reduced in level"
Spectral, you're overacting...like really overacting. You're saying that you talked to every person in TPM and now you know they are "all" going to quit? Tell me, what happens when you work really hard on an actual Pokemon game and suddenly, your game erases? You cuss...might throw it across the room...but eventually you'll pick it up and do it over again. Why? You realize it is just a game. Does anyone actually ever QUIT for good when they get their stuff erased? I'd say, no, not for good. Besides, people who said they've "quit" already keep coming back.
Those who say they will quit before they even try the new game are just overacting as well. They don't know if the new game would be worth the sacrifice or not, yet they decide to quit before even giving it a chance?
Klade: Actually, statistically, a reset would bring MORE members. In the past it has, anyway. Besides, Mars' having 900 Giratinas is an example of why it should be reset. o-o Legendary Pokémon are supposed to be more valued in the new version. Like the games.
If a reset is not done, however, people will keep all of their legendaries, making a large part the game boring for them - that is, working through the entire site to get legendaries... which will not be as easy.
Everyone will quit? No. They won't. o-o Infact I would bet you money that more would come (in time).
Spectral: I don't care about my account, but from what I've heard from the people I've talked to, they said they would quit. A reset would bring a LOT more members, but it would cause a LOT to go.
If you really think it should be done, at least make sure you keep a copy of the database so we can revert if it does cause people to quit.
Klade: A lot CLAIM they would quit. But, historically? No, they didn't. o-o
I always make a copy of the database before any version change.
GhostWriter: I'm on the reset side of this one. A lot of the older players are leaning toward the reset, a number of the newer players are leaning towards it, and many of the people who swear up and down that they will "quit" when it happens will end up being back within a month, especially if he does a beta and they see how much better it'll be. I've always been pro-reset myself, because I know it's gotten very out of hand with the levels and the literal hoarding of pokemon. Hell, I myself make it a point to have at least one of every kind of Growlithe/Arcanine and entertained the idea of hoarding the ShinyGrowlithe/ShinyArcanine.
Will there be some actual quitters? Yes, without a doubt. But we also have people quitting now, due to no change happening, due to boredom, due to hand cramps from clicking to over-level up their pokemon.
Mr Mars: I've been convinced, I'm pro-reset as well. When I think back to when I started looking at Pokemon RPGs, I realize now that I was basically looking for a computer version of the Nintendo™ games. I got used to this okay, but now I realized that I'd be psyched if I got to play something like Platinum online.
If we think about new people then, they should also be expecting something similar to the hand-held Nintendo™ games, and they will be attracted to our RPG like moths to a lamp.
And besides, if I really do lose all my Giratinas, it's no biggy, because I'll just start hoarding them all over again XD
